- Abstract
The article describes the use of general anesthesia for patients requiring comprehensive dental care in one visit without an overnight hospital admission as well as surgical time of 1 to 3 hours. As reported, patients selected for this treatment should not require extensive oral surgical procedures and is scheduled for evaluation with either medicine or pediatrics, depending on age upto 3 weeks before operating room date. As cited, patients with acute respiratory tract infections are excluded from the program and consent for the process is obtained by dental department before surgery and verified in admitting office the morning of dental restoration. As stated, physician the department of Pediatrics and Internal Medicine assumes aspect of care and determines when to discharge the patient.
