- Abstract
The article focuses on the study on microbial growth and of methylomicrobium and methylobacter in soda lakes. The study gives emphasis that soda lakes are commonly in alkaline environments with high mineralization. This is the result of selective pressure of high alkalinity and salinity, which require extra energy expenditure to maintain ionic homeostasis. It observes that there is an increased of carbonate content and deliberates inhibitory effects. Further studies of the physiological and biochemical characteristics of the said microbial communities are recommended.
