- Abstract
The production of seedlings of forest species has important significance for vegetation restoration of degraded areas, since, many species have disappeared or is endangered due to the inadequate exploitation of man over the years. The Amburana cearense is a species belonging to the family Fabaceae, presenting a variety of purposes, including for medical use and is a species that can be planted for reforestation purposes. This study aimed to evaluate the germination and initial development of Amburana cearense subjected to different substrates. The study was conducted in a greenhouse, using a completely randomized design, with four treatments and six repetitions. The treatments consisted of soil + cattle manure, soil + manure sheep, soil + humus, soil + coffee residue in proportion of 1:1 v/v. The variables analyzed were: length of shoot and root, fresh weight of shoot, root and stem, dry matter of shoots, stems and roots, leaf area, root area and the rate of speed of emergence. The result showed that the substrates consist of soil + cattle manure and soil + humus, Were those that provided better results in most of the variables analyzed. Therefore, the treatment soil + coffee residue not provided the seed germination of Amburana cearense, was considered inadequate for use in the production and development of seedlings of this species.
