- Authors
Schlemmer, Martin
- Abstract
The monograph by Sebastian Hösch examines the methods of "Beheimatung" (the process of feeling at home or belonging) in Hessen, Baden-Württemberg, and Westfalen from 1945 to 1985. Particularly, the Heimattage (homeland days) in these regions are analyzed, and their effects on people's sense of belonging are examined. The study shows that all three state governments were striving to strengthen the sense of state consciousness among the population. The article discusses the concept of "Heimat" (homeland) and emphasizes that it can have various meanings and is not solely claimed by right-wing political movements.
