- Title
Hagio Moto's Nuclear Manga and the Promise of Eco-Feminist Desire.
- Authors
LONG, MARGHERITA
- Abstract
The essay explores Japanese manga artist Hagio Moto's collection of works in response to the 2012 Fukushima nuclear disaster and how she connects nuclearization with the problem of feminist desire to protect the world. This insight is found in her satirical works, such as "Nanohana" which features a girl who gives up love as compensation for the destruction of her planet Mars, and "Star Red" which features a hyper-girl who uses her supernatural abilities to protect the natural environment.
