- Abstract
The article offers information on the medium multi-role combat aircraft (MMRCA) program that was launched in 2001 to mitigate the depleted operational strength of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in the interim period of 2012 to 2017. It reveals several manufacturers of fighter aircraft who participated on the selection of new aircraft for the IAF, such as the Super Hornet F/A-18 modern fighter aircraft by the Boeing Co. which showcases diverse abilities that enables the operators to carry out day and night strikes, close air support and forward air control and tanker missions. Also included are the aircraft offered by the Gripen International which features advanced warfare technologies, hence, giving the operators the freedom of choice and one offered by the Eurofighter GmbH.
