- Title
Evaluating Telemedicine in the ICU.
- Authors
Yoo, Erika J.; Dudley, R. Adams
- Abstract
The authors examine the challenge of addressing the benefits of telemedicine for the critically ill given the heterogenity of tele-intensive care units (ICU) systems and the hospitals adopting them. They cite several advantages of telemedicine in the ICU, as well as the challenge posed by the lack of comprehensive trials to evaluate its effects and outcomes. They emphasize the importance of consistent reference in the literature to a unifying conceptual framework of what ICU care is and the manner in which it tele-ICU could improve it.
