- Abstract
Living the high life: remarkable high-elevation records of birds in an East African mountain range Keywords: Albertine Rift; climate change; distribution records; montane avifauna; range shifts; Rwanda; Virungas For example, species that are already found at the highest elevations in the region, such as the endemic Rwenzori Double-collared Sunbird I Cinnyris stuhlmanni i , might not be able to expand their ranges any further as a result of climate change, given the lack of available habitat upslope. Not only did 29 out of the 34 independent records we have for this bird come from elevations >2,700 m, but at least two observations were from the high-elevation sub-Alpine zone (for a list of species records across elevations and habitat types, see Appendix S3).
