- Abstract
The article covers a research project at the University of Lucerne of Applied Sciences and Arts in the Design Management Research Group that focused on the development of low-threshold design interventions to improve hospital ambiance and atmosphere, thereby reducing stress and anxiety. Particular attention is given to the multisensory design approach which addressed optical, acoustic, and tactile areas. The author goes on to discuss control theory in terms of patients' ability to influence their immediate environment.
