- Abstract
This article examines a report from the World Health Organization (WHO) on the state of health care in Iraq. The increasing violence and the shortage of health care workers has harmed the population according to WHO. Health services are overstretched especially in high violence areas where supplies are being used up treating war victims rather than the general population. Many health care professionals are forced into performing procedures for which they have no training. Adding to problems is the state of the infrastructure, where 80 percent of the people are without proper sanitation, 70 percent without clean water and 60 percent are without access to food distribution systems.
