- Abstract
The article looks at the cover art for this issue of the "Journal of the American Medical Association," which features a photograph of two Egyptian pomegranate jars from between 1280 and 1080 BCE. The jars are a part of "The Art of Medicine in Ancient Egypt" exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. According to the article, the smaller green container, which is similar to an unripe pomegranate, likely held medicines. The larger yellow container likely was used to hold ripe pomegranate juice.
