- Title
Understanding Power in Organizations.
- Authors
Pfeffer, Jeffrey
- Abstract
The article discusses aspects of power in organizations. Analysts say large organizations are similar to governments in that they are fundamentally political entities. In the same sense organizational politics are relatable to government politics. Power in organizations often stems from effective knowledge management and the ability to innovate. Managing with power means understanding the strategies and tactics through which power is developed and used in organizations. Experts say persons that seek power in organizations must diagnose the political landscape and understand what important political subdivisions characterize the organization.
