- Abstract
Presents literary criticism of the poem "Man of Law's Tale" by Geoffrey Chaucer. The author describes the placement of the tale within the book "The Canterbury Tales" and discusses the character the Man of Law as a narrator. Other topics include the theme of merchants in the tale, ironic and non-ironic readings of the tale, and how the Man of Law's profession of lawyer affects the story. Also discussed is the Man of Law's depiction in the prologue to "The Canterbury Tales."
