The article offers information on the role of family background in development of emergent literacy and mathematics skills in primary school children. It informs about a parent-focused curriculum program Getting Ready for School (GRS) which enables parents to impart their children necessary skills for school learning. It also mentions that school readiness among children can be enhanced through GRS scheme.
