- Title
Improving on Intuition: Assessing Disease Activity in Takayasu Arteritis.

- Abstract
The article discusses the challenges in assessing disease activity in patients with Takayasu arteritis (TAK), a type of large-vessel vasculitis. Currently, there are no validated measures of disease activity for TAK, which hampers the investigation of new treatments and the prevention of further vascular damage. Various tools have been proposed to assess disease activity, but they have limitations and lack validation. The article introduces a novel tool called the Takayasu's Arteritis Integrated Disease Activity Index (TAIDAI), which integrates clinical symptoms, laboratory findings, and PET imaging to assess disease activity. The TAIDAI shows promise but has limitations and requires further validation. The development of informative disease activity measures for TAK is crucial to improve patient outcomes.
