- Authors
Treimane, Laura
- Abstract
The article presents a study that investigates the relevance of the systematic functional theory in the analysis of parliamentary discourse depicted at transcripts of debate performed at the House of Commons in Great Britain and the Saema in Latvia. It identifies parliamentary discourse as a variety of political language that requires contextual analysis for interpretation. It reveals significant discrepancies in interpreting parliamentary discourse using the systematic functional theory.
