- Abstract
This manuscript sets out to examine whether the complicated structure of semipresidentialism hinders the identifiability of government accountability. By analyzing the Global Barometer Survey data, we find that citizens can observe the distribution of political powers between the president and the prime minister and hold the actual executive head liable for government policy by identifying whether the president is capable of controlling a majority in the legislative branch.
