- Abstract
This paper dwells upon the pedagogic thought of John Chrysostom, who wrote a specific treatise about children's education, De educandis liberis. Maybe he knew the treatise of Ps. Plutarchus about the same subject, but it is possible that Chrysostom, more generally, followed a Greek philosophic tradition. However, John Chrysostom in particular draws his inspiration from the Holy Bible and above all emphasizes the moral and spiritual education of the children, while he does not point out the scholastic education that the treatise of Ps. Plutarchus develops. According to Chrysostom, the family is a little church; this can be considered the highest point of his pedagogic thought.
