- Abstract
The article focuses on the concept of the "Plantationocene," or how plantation slavery has influenced climate history, and the social consequences of racial capitalism. The slave narrative "Slavery in the United States," by Charles Ball, and the contemporary neo-slave narratives "The Water Dancer," by Ta-Nehisi Coates and "The Underground Railroad," by Colson Whitehead, are examined.
