- Abstract
The article focuses on a study related to post-discharge venous thromboembolism (VTE) associated with use of oral contraceptives, or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) by patients having surgery for fractures distal to the knee. It states data related to follow-up of patients who were hospitalized for VTE, and mentions that NSAIDs increase the risks for post-discharge VTE hospitalization. It notes that pulmonary embolism is a significant complication that after the surgery.
