The article analyzes the Greta Gerwig's film "Barbie" (2023) attempts to redefine the cultural significance of the Barbie doll by challenging traditional gender norms and exploring the complexities of identity. It analyzes the film through the lens of Judith Butler's concept of gender performativity and compulsory heterosexuality, examining whether the movie succeeds in transforming Barbie into a feminist symbol of empowerment.
