- Authors
Verini, Alexandra Cassatt
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the book "Legendys of Hooly Wummen" by Osbern Bokenham is presented. It examines the presence and importance of female friendship in the life of St. Katherine, citing her friendship with her covert, Empress Augusta. An overview of the visit of Maxentius's wife, whom the friar describes as a queen, to Katherine's cell, and the queen's martyrdom is provided. St. Katherine's positive representation of spiritual bonds between women is explored.
