- Abstract
Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide, and intraocular pressure (IOP) is a key risk factor. However, current methods of measuring IOP in the office may not accurately capture its fluctuations, which can occur during sleep and in the early waking hours. At-home IOP monitoring devices, such as the iCare HOME2 tonometer, offer a more complete picture of IOP and can help inform treatment decisions. Visual field testing and OCT imaging are also important tools in glaucoma diagnosis and management, but they have their limitations and should be used in conjunction with other assessments. Expanding access to home diagnostics and telemedicine can help improve glaucoma screening and management for patients in underserved communities.
