- Authors
Räty, Anni
- Abstract
The article explores the different perspectives on consent, specifically focusing on mental and behavioral views. It introduces the concept of unilateral and bilateral views of consent, with the author arguing in favor of bilateral views that emphasize the relationship-shaping function of consent. The text discusses the importance of acceptance or uptake by the recipient in order for consent to be morally transformative. It also explores the relationship between consent and control, highlighting the tension between autonomy and the need for uptake. The article concludes that further research is needed to fully understand the concept of uptake in relation to consent.
