- Abstract
This article discusses the role of eosinophils in olfactory dysfunction (OD) in patients with eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). Eosinophilic infiltration in the olfactory mucosa is associated with severe OD and the loss of olfactory sensory neurons (OSNs). The authors suggest that further research is needed to understand the molecular mechanisms of tissue eosinophilia-induced injury of OSNs and develop new therapeutic targets for restoring olfactory function. The text also includes a list of references to various scientific articles related to chronic rhinosinusitis and olfactory dysfunction, providing valuable insights into the causes, mechanisms, and potential treatments for these conditions.
