- Title
RNA-Seq unleashed.
- Authors
Iyer, Matthew K; Chinnaiyan, Arul M
- Abstract
The article focuses on the possibility of assembling a complete transcriptome with no reference genome through the algorithm known as Trinity. It mentions that high-throughput transcriptome sequencing (RNA-Seq) provided a deeper understanding of alternative splicing, helped in detecting gene fusions in cancer and uncovered the functional relationships between ribonucleic acid (RNA) and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). It also notes the shortcomings of Trinity including its lack of rigorous statistical methods to estimate transcript abundance.
