- Abstract
The article focuses on Hindu Law. The history of the law is divided into three phases, pre-colonial phase, Anglo Hindu law and the modern Hindu law. The author focuses on the pre-colonial phase and on the basis on which the law was formed. The author informs that the law came into existence with the combination of the sacred Vedas, Vedangas and Hindu ritual and traditions known as Dharma. Based on studies conducted it was concluded that Dharma was the main constituent of the Law.
