- Abstract
This letter is in response to the letter titled "High Serum Copper Readings Have Precedent and Don't Generally Indicate Copper Toxicity" by Robert DiSilvestro, PhD. We do routinely check CRP and find that a large percentage of our patients have abnormally high levels of CRP, but we do not see a clear association between CRP levels and either ceruloplasmin or copper levels. His conclusion summarizes his arguments, that the pattern of copper levels in our patient population "is not unique, is likely caused by inflammation, and doesn't rule out the possibility of marginal copper deficiency.".
