The article describes the case of the Old Colony Mennonite community of Shipyard, Belize, in which evangelicalism has questioned the value of old plain customs, and in the author's case an anti-modern religiosity. Topics include the circumstances and social tools that have separated the Altkolonier colony in Belize from the wide society, how members have kept the Mennonite community intact, and the process of schism and schism containment.
