- Abstract
The article describes the result of an examination of an off-color type Ia diamond, which was submitted to the Carlsbad laboratory for an origin-of-color determination. It is mentioned that this diamond has hydrogen cloud formation which mimics the growth pattern of the host. Under fiber-optic illumination, the hydrogen cloud appeared to be a Venetian mask, making it difficult to characterize its shape in terms of the known crystal habits of diamond. It is also stated that cloud formations have stellate or cruciform habits that can b described geometrically by the isometric crystal system.
