The article announces the scientists nominated by U.S. President Barack Obama to help his administration formulate energy, science and technology policy. Steven Chu, a physicist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, has been nominated to become U.S. energy secretary. John Holdren, a Harvard physicist and former president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), has been nominated to be Obama's assistant on science and technology, and director of the U.S. Office of Science and Technology Policy.
