The article discusses the prevalence of concubinage, illicit sex and marital separation in parishes of 14th-century Catalonia. It highlights the practice in parishes of mountainous Pyrenees, coastal plains of Tortosa and Barcelona Topics include sexual transgressions during visitations by laity and priests, canon law on official and clandestine marriages and and investigations by episcopal officials.
