- Abstract
The article discusses the social interface that allows information to travel between the different commercial networks involved in trading. An example of a firm where the assumption can be applied is Tobin & Pinney, a commission house in Bristol, England. It highlights the establishment of the trade with the West Indies and the relationship between the firm and its West Indian agents and clients. Moreover, it also explores the strategies developed by the firm during the French Revolutionary Wars, including their attempt at expanding their networks and mechanisms.
