- Abstract
This essay examines the reflections of Holocaust survivor Jean Améry on the loss of home that he suffered due to his forced exile by Nazi Germany during World War II. A background of Améry as well as his examination of the subjects of home and exile are presented. His philosophical articulation of his experiences as an exiled person is discussed. The article also covers his description and examination of the losses of the persecuted, specifically on the loss of home, hope and trust in the world.
