- Title
In Defense of Hemingway's Young Nick Adams: "Everything Was Gone to Hell Inside of Me".
- Authors
Daiker, Donald A.
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the character Nick Adams from the short stories "The End of Something" and "The Three-Day Blow" in the book "In Our Time" by Ernest Hemingway is presented. It takes note of the ambivalence of presenters at the 2012 International Hemingway Conference such as H. R. Stoneback toward the character for breaking up with his girlfriend. Hemingway's frequent use of what were considered then profanities in his first American publication is also discussed.
