The article discusses the portability of photography and cameras, which became possible in the 1850s. Topics discussed include photographers Mathew Brady and Alexander Gardner, the 1867 photograph "A Rare Specimen Fond on Hill Above Fort Riley, Kansas," which shows Gardner with his portable darkroom, and photography that is available on the Library of Congress website located at http://loc.gov/pictures.
