- Abstract
The article examines the theatrical notion of monologue, stage whisper and stage directions in the theoretical and dramatic work of François Hédelin, also known as abbé d'Aubignac. A reflection on 17th-century French drama is presented. According to the article, d'Aubignac had a significant influence on 17th-century French dramatic art, thanks to his theoretical system of representation. The author states that the theatrical elements in d'Aubignac's work introduce a gap between the theoretician and the playwright, who shows his independence in relation to the imperfections inherent in these processes.
