An essay is presented on the redistricting reforms in context of the first California Citizens Redistricting Commission. Topics discussed include efforts for revising the redistricting system with the help of ballot initiative process, role of voters' approval in reforming the system and implementation of these reforms in the redistricting commission. It further discusses selection procedure in the redistricting commission.
