- Abstract
The contemporary translation studies place the translator at the heart of their research, whose visibility used to be overshadowed in the field of literature and science for a long time. Thus, it is not unreasonable to assume that the translator has become a fictional character or a subject of his own in some biofiction. These personal narratives have the ambition to suggest to their readers to reflect on what processes occur at the moment of translation. Therefore, echoing what is called the "fictional turn" (Vieira 1995), it seems to be justified to talk in this regard about the emergence of the metafictional turn in translation studies. In this article, we will reveal the interconnection (in its cognitive, cultural, and ethnic dimensions) between autobiographical and translation theoretical discourses which are being held in "Portrait of the Translator as Chameleon" by Bernard Hoepffner, "Partages" by André Markowicz and "Lycophron et Zétès" by Pascal Quignard and which we qualify as translation metafictions.
