An editorial is presented focusing on the treatment of Osteochondral lesions of the talus (OCLT) defined by damage to the talar articular cartilage and its subchondral bone. Topics include common ankle pathology of OCLT and it's occurence in chronic ankle sprains and ankle fractures, recovery from OCLT and returning to pain-free weight-bearing and sporting activities through management or surgical treatment, and treatment of OCLT through Matrix-associated stem cell transplantation.
