- Title
Ecology: The big picture of marsh loss.
- Authors
Pennings, Steven C.
- Abstract
The article focuses on the study of Deegan and colleagues which reveals that excessive nutrient levels can lead to the loss of salt marshes. The researchers performed the study by adding nutrients to the water flowing into a marsh on the rising tides which replicates the condition of nutrient enriched estuaries. The findings of the study show the consistency of rapid march loss in Long Island Sound and Jamaica Bay in New York with the timing of nutrient enrichment on the area.
