- Abstract
The article provides a historical overview of the European Conferences of Operational Research (EURO) and their significance. It explains that operational research (OR) emerged during World War II in the UK as a means to solve complex problems using real data and mathematical methods. EURO, the Association of European Operational Research Societies within IFORS, was established in 1976, and the first EURO conference took place in Brussels in 1975. The article also mentions the EURO Gold Medal, the highest recognition in Europe for scientific activity in OR, which is awarded at the conference.
