- Authors
HABCHI, Fadia
- Abstract
Algeria has seen significant changes in the financing of its health system since its independence in 1962, with social security emerging as a key pillar. This article aims to examine the current challenges faced by social security as the largest financial contributor to the health sector. It is hypothesized that these challenges affect the economic viability of the sector and impact access to care. The methodology is based on an in-depth literature review of historical data, government reports and specialized studies. The findings highlight revenue losses due to informal work and late payments, highlighting the importance of in-depth audits at company level. This raises questions about participants' confidence and the need for a thorough reassessment of the health and social security system in Algeria.
