- Abstract
The article discusses a study by J.-C. Pairon and colleagues which presented evidence that the presence of pleural plaques can be an accurate indicator of mesothelioma risk. The study used a French population of the Asbestos Past Exposure survey (APEXS) because researchers believe that asbestos exposure remains the major risk factor for mesothelioma. It found a 4.7% mesothelioma rate among workers exposed to asbestos.
