- Authors
Beeman, Don R.; Rosebrock, Hans; Tran, Oanh
- Abstract
The article examines the impact of FirstEnergy's EXPORT NOW program which is carried out by FirstEnergy Corp. on exports, employment or other related dimensions of corporate performance in the U.S. It is believed that exports can be a driver for job creation, thus economic development organizations have established export assistance programs to garner employment growth. It is stated that the EXPORT NOW program has assisted 180 companies with exporting products and services between 1995 and 2004. It is emphasized that the program reveals that small to medium sized manufacturers, which are open-minded about international trade and willing to explore opportunities, can find and create jobs in the process.
