- Abstract
The paper deals with different conceptions about social criticism, respectively with the modeling of modern societies and the modern mankind. We will examine on a broader level the concept of human as one-dimensional mankind, and relevant factors that brought him to this state and killed his criticism or explicated humanity, which is a progressive technological development. Technology is considered to be the main factor of encouragement toward this position, and it makes him even more lonely toward the system and powerless to object it. The development of authentic criticism against such modern conceptions is our efforts in shaping the human being and present society. The basic focus will be on the thinkers of Frankfurt's School as Max Horkheimer, with a special emphasis on Herbert Marcuse and his conceptions on "onedimensional mankind" where he makes a critique on contemporary capitalist societies. Frankfurt's School aims the genuine critique toward Enlightenment by declaring it as a myth, set on the function of instrumentalisating the mind, as Marcuse would name it "One-dimensionalisation of the west mankind".
