- Abstract
This work treats the role and influence of party leaders communication in election campaigns and daily papers reporting of local elections 2009/2010. In this work is argued the fact that during election campaign the participation of leaders in organizations and meetings was very important and played crucial role. In our society, where the role of leader in politics has an irreplaceable importance during the election campaign, their participation has essential importance. The public opinion values very much the participation of leaders in every electoral meeting. The politic parties' leaders in Kosova took this fact in consideration and contributed in "beautification" of electoral meetings, especially leaders of main parties. Almost in every country of the world the politicians communicate with voters mainly through media. The politicians meet voters even face to face in meetings, but media and press play a crucial role of intermediation between people and politic system. This study aims to compare editorial policies of daily newspapers in relation to the elections, based on case study in Kosovo, precisely in the local elections 2009/2010 and editorial policies of dailies in Kosovo. It was clearly proved by this study that this field has particular importance. Local elections, editorial policies, daily newspapers, political parties, information and public communication have extraordinary importance for individuals and society mostly, because they contribute in a substantial rate in organizing social life. For this reason conclude that policy, editorial policies, press matter and other information means, and mass communication are necessary for free and modern societies. By this research study has been clearly observed that according to the importance and role of media in society, in our case, written ones, daily newspaper owners and publishers have paid attention to the editorial policies, notably during period of pre-election campaign. Throughout research was argued that free and independent media are precondition in building up of a democratic and free society. In this context, we say that having independent editorial policies into daily newspapers, first we must have suitable surroundings for functioning of free and independent media. These suitable surroundings intend legal regulation of media functioning and financial independence.
