- Abstract
The article discusses the first confirmed record of the invasive European hare for Eastern Paraguay. It states that the size of the documented dead lagomorph found along a roadside overlaps the size of the published measurements for Sylvilagus brasiliensis, a native lagomorph which considerably smaller with pure russet ears and a small inconspicuous tail. It infers that the invasion of the European hare happens newly in southeastern Paraguay. It says that the region went through vast landscape transformations in 45 years as eastern Paraguay was used to be covered with Atlantic Forest. It also implies that the hare's population control will be difficult due to vast landscape transformation, ranching, and hunting alike on felid and canid species.
