- Title
Stop-smoking support: considerations for community nurses.
- Authors
Williams, Anne
- Abstract
Smoking is the most preventable cause of ill health, and is associated with many long-term conditions. Around 24% of all deaths in Scotland in 2004 were attributed to smoking (NHS Health Scotland and ASH Scotland, 2007). This article provides background information on the health effects of smoking, and discusses issues around stop smoking support, highlighting some implications for community nurses who work with clients who want to stop smoking.
