- Abstract
This commentary presents the aspects considered most relevant on the novelties introduced by the legislative amendment of the European Union Directive 2018/2001 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources. The European Union raises its targets for all Member States to meet by 2030 for a 55% reduction of greenhouse gases to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. To do so, a procedural simplification in the granting of administrative authorizations has been proposed, where the implementation of renewable acceleration zones with permit-granting procedures and the implementation of the overriding public interest stand out, as well as various modifications in the field of transport, buildings and industry. As final considerations, some of the reflections on the potential effects that the Directive will have.
